Psalms, 126

A Song of the Ascents.

1 When Jehovah gathered back the captive ones*1 of Zion, We became like those who were dreaming.

  1. Or, “the captivity; the body of captives.”

2 At that time our mouth came to be filled with laughter, And our tongue with a joyful cry. At that time they proceeded to say among the nations: “Jehovah has done a great thing in what he has done with them.”*1

  1. Or, “Jehovah has done great things for them.”

3 Jehovah has done a great thing in what he has done with us.*1 We have become joyful.

  1. See vs 2 ftn.

4 Do gather back, O Jehovah, our company of captives,*1 Like streambeds in the Negʹeb.*2

  1. Or, “our captivity.”

  2. Or, “the south.”

5 Those sowing seed with tears Will reap even with a joyful cry.

6 The one that without fail goes forth, even weeping, Carrying along a bagful of seed, Will without fail come in with a joyful cry, Carrying along his sheaves.
